Kindred Hope was born out of a real call—to build a church that actually looks like the ‘A.’ Bright. Diverse. Full of culture, heart, and life.

Pastor Howard and Kellie Brown teamed up with Perimeter Church to create a space where people could pull up and feel seen… A place for faith that’s real, healing that’s deep, and community that feels like family.

Howard is a seasoned pastor, church planter, and kingdom visionary who lives for building and strengthening gospel-centered communities.

Charleston-born and bred, he met Jesus in the AME Church and was shaped deeply through Reformed University Fellowship campus ministry at Clemson University. After finishing his M.Div. at Covenant Seminary, he served at Redemption Fellowship in Atlanta, pastored Forest Park Presbyterian in Baltimore—once the Presbyterian Church in America’s oldest historically Black congregation—and then launched Christ Central Church in Charlotte, sparking a movement that changed the game for multiethnic ministry in the region.

Today, Howard is Lead Pastor of Kindred Hope, staying faithful to his lifelong mission: building bridges, raising leaders, and seeing God’s people flourish together in unity and power.

Howard and his wife, Kellie, are the proud parents of two grown kids. Straight out of St. Louis, she heard God’s call while at Valdosta State University and never looked back. She has led with heart and excellence as Worship & Arts Director at Christ Central Church, as an assessor and coach for Mission to North America, and as Operations Director for African American Ministries.

Now she’s running strong as Program Lead for Serge’s Kinship Initiative—refreshing and equipping Black leaders—and she serves as a Ministry Associate at Kindred Hope, where her voice, creativity, and vision help shape the movement.

Kellie and her husband, Howard, are the proud parents of two grown kids. Off the clock, she’s likely vibing to music, trying out new recipes, growing plants (or trying not to kill them!), watching movies, or singing and dancing like nobody’s watching.

After finishing his M.Div. at Reformed Theological Seminary, Charles planted West Charlotte Church—a vibrant church right in the heart of Charlotte’s historic Black community.

These days, Charles is grinding as the Executive Director of Kindred Hope and serving as Coordinator for African American Ministries in the PCA—lifting up, coaching, and championing Black pastors and leaders from coast to coast.

He’s married to his college sweetheart, Charlotte, and the two of them are raising four incredible kids. When he’s not working, you’ll catch him vibin’ to hip-hop or R&B, locked in on an NBA game, hitting the gym, kicking it with the fam, or out on a date night in ATL with wifey.

Raised in Western PA, he met Jesus in college while studying Vocal Performance at NYU. After earning his M.Div. from Westminster Theological Seminary, he stepped into ministry across churches, campuses, communities, and countries—developing kingdom leaders at every turn. 

These days, Russ is the Worship & Arts Director at Kindred Hope and the Assistant Coordinator for Cross-Cultural Advancement with Reformed University Fellowship— building bridges, raising leaders, and shaping culture through worship and discipleship.
